I upgraded my Campbell Hausfeld model WL660301AJ 5 CFM oil-less compressor with a 2 cylinder 14 CFM pump and 5 HP 240V electric motor. To do so I created a base plate allowing me to mount the new motor and pump onto the C & H tank, and used an upgraded pressure switch. Now the former consumer level compressor has the air capacity to handle all the tools in my shop, including the sand blaster and spray guns. I was able to salvage the motor and pressure switch, and buy the pump and other fittings using gift certificates, so this upgrade actually only cost about and about 8 hours of time. Most light duty compressors are extremely loud. In this video, I swap a fridge compressor with the original. The end result is a whisper quiet unit. I don’t have the technical specs on the compressor. I just randomly receive these units to be scrapped. But for comparison’s sake, the original fill time was 10mins. With the fridge compressor it takes 5mins.
